The problems of interaction between forest and steppe

Determining the boundaries of the north-western Pryazovia region as a coastal zone for further studying and managing it

The problem of determining the integral boundaries for various types of investigations (scientific, administrative, managing) is urgent. They enable to plan a many-sided scientific investigation of the coastal areas and to determine prospects of their further development. Coordinated ness of the boundaries will enable to study the natural life and economy of the coastal areas integratedly with the purpose of further managing them. The basin approach is suggested in using for determining the boundaries in this work. The boundaries of the North-Western Pryazovia region as a coastal area of the Sea of Azov are established. The paradynamic connections between the contrasting (the land-the sea) environments are revealed. The map scheme of the land and sea boundaries of the North-Western Pryazovia region as a system is mode

Geographical education of the population is one of the main tasks of general education. The key problem in the field of teaching school geography is the problem of forming a system of physical and geographical knowledge, in which a significant role is played by geological and geomorphological knowledge

Current hydroecological condition of the North-Western Pryazovie rivers

The territory of the North-Western Pryazovie is adjacent to the northern coast of the Sea of Azov. There are 14 rivers flowing through the territory of the North-Western Priazovie with a total length of 944.1 km and a water intake area of 10.613 km2. Territorially, the river network of the Sea of Azov can be divided into two parts: western and eastern, which differ from each other in the structure of the surface, climatic conditions and the nature of the hydrological regime. The rivers of the North-Western Pryazovie can be grouped according to the following characteristics: length, size of the basin, catchment area, nature of the flow, nature of the sources, tendency to dry out. If in the early stages of economic development the rivers of the North-Western Pryazovie could meet all the needs of people and cope with anthropogenic pressure, now most rivers can no longer withstand these loads and have lost the possibility of environmental self-regulation. The concept of «economic burden» on the natural environment now does not fully correspond to the actual state of the smallest river and its catchment area. A more precise concept of «anthropogenic press», which should be understood not only as the direct economic use of the riverbed, its valley, shores and surrounding areas, but also the side (not infrequently contradictory or negative) consequences of such use. When assessing the current or expected state of the steppe rivers of the North-Western Pryazovie, it is necessary to take into account the following features: these rivers are the main source of food for large rivers, so their preservation is essential to protect water resources from depletion; the watersheds of these rivers house a significant number of people, industrial facilities, agricultural lands, which determines the great economic importance of this category of rivers; due to their small size, these rivers are very sensitive to certain types of economic activity, which is particularly acute in the water regime of the territory

Сучасні напрями розвитку суспільства. 1.9. Formation of a knowledge system about the geographical shell in the process of studying the course «General earth science»

The discipline «General earth science» is one of the most important in the system of science education. Here the foundations of general physical-geographical and ecological knowledge are laid, geographical thinking is formed, geographical language is developed [3, 4]. Every junior student should think about the complexity and at the same time the fragility of the geographical shell and their own responsibility for its condition. The future teacher of geography, having mastered the basics of knowledge, can play not the least role in the formation of integrated environmental educatio

Features of the geological and geomorphological structure of the accumulative formations of the North Pryazovia

    Get PDF
The modern geomorphological appearance of the northern coast of the Sea of Azov was formed during the last 2 thousand years under the conditions of modern neotectonics, intensive hydrodynamic regime, and abrasion and accumulative processes. At the same time, most of the accumulative forms of the Northern Pryazovia region – sea spits – were formed. In geomorphological terms, the spits of the northern coast of the Sea of Azov are lowlands, in the form of sandy and shell peninsulas, which wedge deeply into the water area of the Sea of Azov at an angle of about 45° to the conventional coastline. These spits are oriented in the northeastern and southwestern directions. The generalization of the results obtained in the course of the research made it possible to establish the main features of the geological and geomorphological structure of the accumulative forms of the North Pryazovia, in connection with the geological structure and marine hydrometeorological conditions; to develop a generalized scheme of morphogenetic dissection of "Azov type" spits

Geographical education of the school is aimed at forming in students a spatial idea of the earth’s surface and the development of skills to consciously navigate the socio-economic, socio-political and environmental events taking place in the state and the world. Informatization of the educational process significantly affects the content, organizational forms and methods of teaching and management of educational and cognitive activities, and causes significant changes in the activities of students. Thanks to the use of multimedia, interactive technologies, the Internet, the possibilities of a modern lesson are significantly expande

Environmental Consequences of the Explosion of the Kahovsky Hydroelectric Plant on Biodiversity

    Get PDF
The purpose of this article is to determine the ecological consequences of the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric plant (southern Ukraine) on the biological diversity of the region. The main research methods were: theoretical generalization and system-functional approach, analysis, synthesis, expedition method. Results. The ecological consequences of the destruction of a hydroelectric dam are divided into two types: drainage and flooding. As a result of the flooding, 48 objects of the nature reserve fund, with a total area of 120 thousand hectares, were affected. Aquatic biotopes and biotopes characteristic of overmoistened areas were the most affected by drainage. 38 rare types of biotopes, which are under the protection of the Bern Convention, were affected by the ecological disaster; wetlands of international importance (so-called Ramsar) with an area of 33,000 hectares in the Dnipro delta and seven objects of the Emerald network. Perspectives. Prospects for further research are related to the study of biotope restoration after an ecological disaster
